Much of my ample fabric and notions stash has come from estate sales and thrift stores. And why not? You can find some unusual items, and get them for a fraction of the cost of buying them new. And it’s eco-friendly, too. But shopping secondhand is a different animal from perusing the bolts at the fabric store. Abby Glassenberg from While She Naps, and author of Stuffed Animals: From Concept to Construction, gives some advice for where to look and what to look for when fabric shopping at thrift stores and rummage sales.
