Abby from Things for Boys shows how you can make a flatlock seam on your serger. While a typical serged seam leaves a 1/4″ seam allowance on one edge (both layers of fabric wrapped together in threads to keep it neat), a flatlocked seam overlaps the edges of the two pieces of fabric and covers the area they overlap with threads. It’s a good seam to use when you want to join two fabrics smoothly and without a seam allowance hanging around on the back. Go to Things for Boys to see how to make a flatlocked serged seam.
