Shauna from Shwin & Shwin shows how to make a baby onesie with buttons across the shoulders. It’s a variation on her previously published baby onesie pattern (free pattern, by the way). The buttons are functional, so besides being a cute look, it’s a good design for babies with larger heads (or who just don’t like having things pulled snugly over their heads). Go to her blog for the tutorial and a link to the free onesie pattern.

Sewing your own baby clothes is very satisfying. It’s one of the precious times when we as parents get to choose what our children wear without complaint. Dressing your baby in unique handmade clothing makes for wonderful photos and keepsakes too. As children get older they can select their own fabrics and become part of the sewing process.
