Sewing Tutorial: Candy corn striped throw pillow

In her color blocked candy corn pillows, Amy from Positively Splendid uses a simple stripe to evoke a favorite Halloween candy. You can dowload a PDF tutorial showing how to make one. It’s a quick pillow to sew up and would look cute sitting on a patio or front porch to welcome autumn visitors. Go to her blog to download the tutorial.

Freebie: Printable Christmas Eve magic pillowcase poem

With all the excitement and expectation of Santa’s visit, it can be hard for kids to go to sleep on Christmas Eve. Melissa from Polka Dot Chair created special pillowcases for her nephews, to be used only on Christmas Eve. When she gave them to them, she included a little poem explaining that they’re magic pillowcases to help them have sweet dreams. She’s sharing a free printable of the poem on her blog, plus she links to a tutorial she’s written for making a pillowcase, so you can start the tradition with your own kids.
