Free pattern: Little boy’s faux-tie

April 12, 2011 by Anne Weaver

Autie from iCandy Handmade shows how to make a faux-tie for little boys.  It looks like it’s a grown-up style tie, but it’s actually fabric stitched into the shape of a tied tie and worn around the neck on an elastic band.  This would be so great for Easter dressy!   Get the pattern.

This pattern and instructions are easy to follow and the tie looks great. I needed a tie for another student to match the dress I made my daughter for a school play and was able to make the tie with leftover material. In place of the elastic, I used a strip of the same material and then sewed velcro onto it for an easy closure and easy on and off. Thanks so much for the pattern and tutorial.

Love it!! I needed to make something that looked like a school tie for a tap dancing costume, and this was perfect. I made nine for the dancers and then because it is so easy and looks great I have made a floral tie for my six-year-old son. Next I want to buy some Christmas themed fabric and make some for Christmas!
Thanks for the very clear and detailed instructions and accurate photographs. Much appreciated.
Now I’m ready to search your site and see what other wonderful things I can make…
