Free pattern: Sew a scoodie (scarf with a hood)

December 14, 2009 by Anne Weaver

Scoodie

Blanche from Just Tutorials is sharing an exciting new project for all the sewing enthusiasts out there! She’s created a free pattern for a unique and versatile accessory that combines the best of two classic wardrobe staples – a scarf and a hoodie. This creation is known as a scoodie, and it’s the perfect accessory for keeping you warm and stylish during the cooler months.

The free pattern is available now, but the sewing instructions haven’t been posted yet. However, if you’re a moderately experienced sewer, you’ll most likely be able to figure out the assembly without the instructions. With a little bit of creativity and determination, you’ll be able to put together your very own scoodie in no time!

Whether you’re an experienced sewer or just starting out, this scoodie pattern from Just Tutorials is a great project to tackle. So go ahead, get the free pattern, and let your creativity run wild! With a little bit of time and effort, you’ll have a brand new accessory that you can wear with pride and comfort.

Get the free pattern.

do you know that the scoodie is a world-famous(at least in the crafty world) creation from vegbee, craftster celebrity, and the free pattern and instructions are available here: http://indietutes.blogspot.com/2007/09/scoodie.html

Thank you for sharing that link! Yes, I’m familiar with and appreciate vegbee’s 2007 tute, and I’m sure some CraftGossip readers remember it, too. I also enjoy seeing new interpretations, clever innovations, and independent discoveries of familiar concepts. Don’t you just love the richness of the Internet sewing world!

I was able to download the file without difficulty. You’ll need the click the link to go to Media Fire, where the file is stored. From there, you can download the PDF. –Anne

Is there any reason why I can’t access the pattern from my computer? I can look at the PDF on my phone (which doesn’t help much) and then as soon as I try to look at it from my computer it just takes me to an ad page. Help?

I’m not sure why it’s doing that. It’s redirecting me to the ad page as well. When I originally posted the link, it wasn’t happening. –Anne

Let’s talk about the magic of jumpsuits.

One piece. Endless style. Zero outfit math.

Whether you’re living in your sewing studio or just dipping your toes into garment-making, there’s a jumpsuit pattern out there with your name on it. Think about it:

• Instant outfit (no more staring at your closet at 8am)
• Comfort that looks chic (secret pajama vibes, but make it fashion)
• Custom-fit perfection (goodbye gaping backs and too-long straps!)

But here’s the problem – store-bought jumpsuits never seem to get it quite right. The waist hits at the wrong spot. The straps dig in. The fabric feels cheap.

That’s why we’ve hunted down 30 incredible jumpsuit patterns – from easy-breezy weekend rompers to sleek, tailored styles that’ll make you feel like a fashion designer. And the best part? Many of these are absolutely FREE.
