Free pattern: The Slouchy Shirt

April 28, by Anne Weaver. 4 Comments

Editor’s note:  I received free access to this course so I could write this review.  All opinions in this review are 100% mine.

Free pattern: The Slouchy Shirt

So last week I promised a free pattern of my Slouchy Shirt.  I had hoped to get it up on Friday, but several straight days with major headache prevented me from getting it done.  Thankfully, the headaches lifted this weekend and I’ve got it for you today.  Yay!!  I’ve got the download link at the bottom of this post.

My Slouchy Shirt is one of my go-to spring and summer shirts.  I’m sad that I don’t have better photos of it because it really is one of my favorite shirts.

Free pattern: The Slouchy Shirt

It fits loosely through the chest and waist but snugs at the hip.  I can wear it with jeans or shorts or even a long A-line skirt.

I shared a tutorial for making my Slouchy Shirt a couple of years ago (has it really been that long?) but now I’ve got it as a downloadable PDF pattern, thanks to Lauren Dahl’s course Creating PDF Patterns: From Sketch To Sale.

I’ve already written a review telling how utterly awesome this course it, but I feel the need to repeat it again.  This course rocks!  Lauren is an amazing teacher.

Please note that Creating PDF Patterns actually shows how to do a lot more with PDF patterns than I have done with this pattern, the most notable being drafting directly in Illustrator and grading your pattern.  I have only completed about a third of the course.

My free pattern is available in one size only – a women’s size small (32-34″ bust, 39″ hip).  Her course shows how you can use Illustrator to grade your digitized patterns to different sizes.  I haven’t had time to complete that section yet, so I’m only able to give you the one size.  I’m also missing a cutting layout (which her course shows how to make), though with just a few pieces to place it’s not that  necessary for this pattern.

Even in its current one-size only state, my downloadable and tiled PDF pattern is sooo much more polished and professional than my original tutorial!

Download the free pattern for The Slouchy Shirt.

If this is a direction you’d like to take your pattern drafting, you can purchase Creating PDF Patterns: From Sketch to Sale at Pattern Workshop for $149.

To find out more about this amazing course, read this post for my full review of this course and this post for a play-by-play of how I used it to create my Slouchy Shirt pattern.  Lauren is giving away one free enrollment to this course to one very lucky Craft Gossip reader.  You can enter the giveaway at either of these posts, or using the link below:

There are just a few days left to enter!  Deadline for giveaway entry is 11:59 pm EST on Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

I would love this pattern, however for the life of me, I cannot find it. I have clicked on every link I can find and it keeps sending me to the review of the pdf pattern class.

Click the words “Download the free Slouchy Shirt pattern.” I tried making it a larger font so it would be more noticeable but that also took away the underlining that shows it as a clickable link. I’ll see if I can fix the formatting to make it show it as a link. –Anne
