I’ve gotten pretty good at eyeballing a 1/4-inch or 1/2-inch folded edge, but when I want to be more precise I find myself pulling out a seam gauge and constantly checking the depth of the fold.
Until now.
Because The Scientific Seamstress has an idea that is SO much easier and provides a more accurate measurement. She created a pressing template that can be printed on to cardstock. She’s sharing the template for FREE on her blog. The PDF includes a template for a straight fold and one with a slight curve. Be still my anal-retentive heart! Get the free template.

You just have to love Carla!!!! This is such a great idea, and so nice of her to share it with us!
this is a great idea. there are also rulers that you can buy. you just press your edges over until you reach the desired hem measurement.
GENIUS!!!
Thanks Anne!
Fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing this!
I’m new to sewing properly (I’ve done plenty of Hack and Slash in the past) This will come in very handy. Thanks!
I’m a little late in saying this, but this is a wonderful tool. Thank you for letting us know about it.
