Get it now: Free vintage pattern for a flower petal hat and purse

March 26, 2011 by Anne Weaver

From now until April 2, 2011, Bramcost Publications is offering a free downloadable pattern for a 1950’s flower petal hat and matching purse.  While I don’t see myself ever being able to pull of the hat, the purse could definitely work with today’s styles. It would make an elegant evening bag out of the taffeta recommended in the pattern, or it could have a more casual scrappy look if the petals were all made from different printed cottons.  Get the free pattern.

Doubt I could pull it off, put it would be a great pattern to have if you do any costumes such as when I was in 5th grade we did a production of Wizard of Oz and all of us munchkins wore flowered hats.
Or for a tinkerbell or fairy.

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
