Idea file: Use spray dye to give plain bags a tie dye effect

Last week I showed a quick and easy way to add a pen sleeve to a plain drawstring bag.  Today, I’ve got another idea to show you.

I gave the plain bag a tie dye effect using SEI Tumble Dye – fabric dye in a spray bottle.  It took less than a minute for me to create the splattery design.  Then, I replaced the plain cotton drawstring with a coordinating ribbon.  Finally, I used a strip of fusible webbing to add some pom pom fringe around the top.

How simple is that!  And because it’s so quick to do, you could make up a bunch of bags in an evening.
