Sewing in Paris

April 20, by candi canncel. 1 Comment

I was lucky enough to spend the beginning of April in Paris. It was my first time to this magical city and I absolutely fell in love!

Besides all the wonderful sights, food, champagne and of course art, that Paris has to offer, the biggest gem for me was La Droguerie.

A friend had recommended that I visit it when in Paris and I am so absolutely glad that I did!

It was the most beautiful sight, an entire store devoted to every “domestic art” you could imagine.

In addition to yarn, eons of beads, embroidery and cross stitch supplies, there were miles and miles of luscious French ribbon, fabulous notions, walls of gorgeous buttons, thread in every colour of the rainbow, delicate silk flower brooches, sumptuous fabrics of every fiber imaginable and my absolute favorite- tassels. There were satin thread tassels, over sized drapery tassels, tassels with silver hardware and the most beautiful pink and orange beaded tassels that I have ever seen.

La Droguerie is truly the most inspiring place I have ever been to buy sewing supplies. If you ever find yourself in Paris, you must go- although it is a bit pricey, you will not be disappointed!
