Sewing pattern: Fitted crib sheets with French seams

April 5, 2019 by Anne Weaver

Sewing tutorial: Fitted crib sheets with French seamsWhen you’re putting together a baby’s nursery, you want everything to be perfect.  Julie Herman from Jaybird Quilts shows how you can sew your own fitted crib sheets.  Sewing them yourself allows you to pick exactly the prints you want to use.  Plus, her tutorial includes French seams so they are finished nicely.

Can i still make a baby’s crib sheets from flannel fabrics that’s only 42″ wide?

I’ve read several blog posts that say flannel makes a soft fitted crib sheet, but none of them mention how to adjust for the narrower fabric. It may be the difference in width isn’t enough to make a different in the fit of the sheet, but I’ve never done it so I can’t say. You may just need to give it a try and then see how it fits over the mattress. –Anne

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
