Tutorial: All about knit fabric types, weights, and amount of stretch

June 29, 2017 by Anne Weaver

Tutorial: All about knit fabric types, weights, and amount of stretchTutorials and sewing patterns often talk about knit fabrics as if they are all the same.  But there are lots of different types of knit fabric.  But which is the right kind to use? Cheryl from Sew Can Do tells all about the different kinds of knit fabric, as well as how to figure the amount of stretch and what the different weights of knit fabric mean.  It’s a great resource if you’re just starting to sew knits, or if you’ve been sewing on knits for a while and want to learn better how to choose the right knit for your project.

Thanks for this link. You find so much neat stuff!

Have you read?

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
