Tutorial and pattern: Fabric quiet book

July 1, 2017 by Anne Weaver

Tutorial and pattern: Fabric quiet bookAbby from Sew Much Ado shares a tutorial and pattern at The Creative Spark for  making a quiet book.  Each page of the fabric book has a different activity to keep young hands and brains engaged in quiet activity.  Her patterns include pages with a picture frame, a unicorn with hair you can braid, a lace-up shoe, apple tree with removable apples and a basket, buckles and zipper, and shape sorting.

Quiet books or busy books are educational book/toys made with age or development appropriate activities for babies, toddlers and preschool-age children. They are interactive and tactile. These books usually involve a cause and effect result as well as visual aids to teach fundamental learning skills. These books also develop hand and eye co-ordination.  You can find more patterns for making Quiet or Busy books here  Etsy.

How do you make the holes on each page of your bookS?

Have you read?

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
