But the original cover is threated to be flamefroof. Everyone shold know that making a new cover is a risk for the safety of your child.

You make a good point. If flame-retardant fabric is important for your project, you might consider treating your fabric with a flame retardant spray first. Dharma Trading Co. sells a flame-retardant treatment (http://www.dharmatrading.com/featured_products/frtqt.html), though the description doesn’t specifically mention using it to make wearables or items that children would use. You might need to do more research to determine which treatment is appropriate for your project.

I just want to say….how many times have you seen a child’s car seat catch on fire? Do you smoke in or around your baby in the car? I bet not! Car seat covers have tons of chemicals. It has even been known to cause chemical burns and allergic reactions to your baby. They are toxic. I am here to find a tutorial so these chemicals are not touching my baby. These flame retardant chemicals react with heat and them absorbed into your babies body. It is ridiculous that you have to worry about how many chemicals are in your car seat when you are worrying about how safe these car seats are while driving. Not to mention how many people buy the infant car seats and leave them in while they are sleeping only to be laying on toxic chemicals while dozing. Read these articles and check out what chemicals were found in YOUR car seat and them think twice about treating your fabric with flame retardant chemicals to lay your baby on. http://green.yourway.net/car-seats-non-toxic-and-safe/………http://raisingnaturalkids.com/2012/07/08/protecting-children-from-the-chemicals-found-in-car-seats/………
