Marissa from Rae Gun Ramblings shows how to make a little girl’s Fancy Nancy costume, whether for Halloween or just pretend dress-up. And it IS a fancy costume, with rows and rows of ruffles on the skirt. It uses a basic bodice and gathered skirt, so it’s really not a difficult dress to sew. A fancy ribbon and bow goes around the waist. And don’t forget fancy accessories, like a feather boa or a tiara. You just can’t get enough fancy when you’re dressing up as Fancy Nancy! Her post is part of the Handmade Costume Series at The Train To Crazy. (Total sidenote here: I got a chance to hang out with Marissa at Sewing Summit last week. She is even more delightful in person!) Go to Rae Gun Ramblings for the Fancy Nancy dress tutorial.

I had a chance to meet Marisa at Sewing Summit last week. She is just as delightful in person as she comes across on her blog.
