No frills, no flowers, just great details like a leather cover and contrast top stitching. The cover folds around to make an easel that props up the iPad for reading. The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!
It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.
Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
“For a guy”? The post says it is for the iPad they share. Women appreciate understated cases, too.
You make a good point. I’m actually one of the women who appreciate understated cases, and I’m the one who wrote those words. The reason I put “for a guy” in the title is that sewing for guys does tend to be harder than sewing for women. I prefer understated but I’m okay with flowers and frill. Most guys are not. (I say “most” because I do have guy friends whose taste is actually more ornate than my own.) I worded the title for readers who are looking specifically for a project for a guy, so they will know that this design is suitable. –Anne
