Tutorial: iPad or tablet case for a guy

May 13, by Anne Weaver. 2 Comments

ipad-case-1Melissa from Blank Slate Patterns and Melly Sews shares a tutorial for making an iPad (or other tablet) case for a guy.  No frills, no flowers, just great details like a leather cover and contrast top stitching.  The cover folds around to make an easel that props up the iPad for reading.  Go to Melly Sews for the tutorial.

“For a guy”? The post says it is for the iPad they share. Women appreciate understated cases, too.

You make a good point. I’m actually one of the women who appreciate understated cases, and I’m the one who wrote those words. The reason I put “for a guy” in the title is that sewing for guys does tend to be harder than sewing for women. I prefer understated but I’m okay with flowers and frill. Most guys are not. (I say “most” because I do have guy friends whose taste is actually more ornate than my own.) I worded the title for readers who are looking specifically for a project for a guy, so they will know that this design is suitable. –Anne
