Tutorial: Make a ballerina onesie using rosette trim

February 29, 2012 by Anne Weaver

This girly-girl ballerina onesie looks like it would take hours of handstitching to create, but it’s actually pretty simple when you use rosette trim. Rachel from Bubbly Nature Creations shows how to do it.  She created the design to camouflage some stains, but it turned out so cute that I don’t know if I could wait for a onesie to get dirty to make one.  Get the tute.

Sewing your own baby clothes is very satisfying. It’s one of the precious times when we as parents get to choose what our children wear without complaint. Dressing your baby in unique handmade clothing makes for wonderful photos and keepsakes too. As children get older they can select their own fabrics and become part of the sewing process.

It makes me wish I had a granddaughter. I started sewing when my daughter was an infant decades ago but everything was so practical. Never saw ruffles on a onesie. Adorable.

Oh, that is the loveliest garment I’ve seen in a long time. It looks like roses but better. And you’ve made it simple with the trim.

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
