Veronica from SewVery shows how you can use a shirt’s neck facing pattern piece to make a bow collar instead. Brilliant! The construction is very similar to putting in a facing, though turned to the outside of the shirt rather than the inside and gathered in the center to make the bow. She shows it with the Beachy Boatneck by Blank Slate Patterns, but this would work with any shirt that has a facing. Or, if your shirt pattern doesn’t have a facing, you can easily draft that pattern piece yourself. Go to SewVery to see how to make the bow collar from a facing piece.
