Tutorial: Making cording the easy way

May 26, 2010 by Anne Weaver

Jen from Jen’s Bags and Just another day in the life of… shares a tip for cording that is so simple and yet so clever that you’ll think to yourself, “Why haven’t I been doing this all along???”  At least that’s what I thought when I read how she creates the cording for her projects.  Find out how she does it at Just another day in the life of…

Wow!! Now that my chin is off the floor, I don’t even know what to say!!! I am unworthy!!I’ve been sewing for 40 years, making my own cording forever, and even have a roll of fusible webbing in my top drawer! Will you let me come to your house and watch you sew for a week just so I can maybe learn a few things by osmosis?!?!!

Have you read?

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
