Tutorial: Spock and Yoda baby rattles

August 15, 2012 by Anne Weaver

La Bouilloire Noire shows how to make a pair of baby rattles for the geeky set. One is the Yoda rattle you see here.  The other is one made to look like the ever logical Mr. Spock.  These would make awesome gifts for a new baby!  Get the tutorial.

Note:  Check out this post at Softie Making for info on how to insert bells into a softie toy, particularly one intended for a baby.

[thank you to Emma from Ruby Murrays Musings for sending this link!]

Wondering why there is a new hype on Yoda or Baby Yoda? Have you seen the Star Wars show The Mandalorian ? Well everyone loved Yoda the first time around and now that he is baby Yoda he is even more adorable. This project is easily adapted for a Baby Yoda pattern, craft project and or tutorial.

Along the same lines as baby gear safety, rattles should not be purchased second hand. Parents can just imagine where the rattle has been along its path to the second hand store.

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
