Tutorial: Square mini backpack

August 23, 2013 by Anne Weaver

mini backpackCelina from Petit a Petit & Family is over at The Sewing Rabbit today with a tutorial showing how to make this mini backpack.  The square shape is a good shape for a school pack, and the scale is right for a smaller child.  A pocket on the front will hold pencils and other smaller items, and a pair of short handles makes it easy to grab up and carry in your hands.  (There are also shoulder straps to carry it as a traditional back pack; you just can’t see them in this photo.)  Go to The Sewing Rabbit to see how to make the mini backpack.  If you’re wanting to make one in a larger size, she’s got a tutorial for that on her own blog.

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
