You can use pattern weights instead of pins when cutting out your patterns.  Rather than pinning the pattern down to the fabric, simply lay the weights down at key places on the pattern to keep it in place while you cut it out.  You can buy pattern weights at the fabric store, but they tend to be expensive.  Vanessa from Crafty Gemini shares a video tutorial on her blog showing how you can make your own pattern weights out of heavy metal washers from the hardware store.  Go to the video tutorial.
